Electric Eyes

Party season is upon us and it calls for one thing… the freedom to play with glamorous and full-face makeup looks. The festive period means that sparkle (in all forms), bold colours and powerful textures are filling all of our beauty bags as we play dress-up during the most wonderful time of the year.

If you are a lover of accentuating your eyes then you are in luck, as here at PIBE we are highlighting four of our favourite sharp high-fashion eyeliners. We can easily get comfortable sticking to our everyday black and brown shades but why not be daring and elevate any eye look with a bold colour. Perhaps it will match your New Year’s party outfit, make your own eye colour pop or be your version of a fun colourful Christmas accessory. This party season don’t be afraid to reach for one of our PIBE approved colourful eyeliners…..read on for our top application tips and get playing.

If you want to feel pretty in pink, there is only one brand to pick. Valentino’s gel eyeliner is ultra-pigmented, has an impressive 24-hour wear and comes in the iconic Maison Valentino hot fuschia shade. This is a vibrant pink but with cool undertones so will especially compliment green eyes. With pink it’s best to commit and go bold, so why not try the double eyeliner effect? Simply apply your black liner first along your upper lashes and then trace above this existing line with a pop of pink. This technique is seamless if you want to ease into wearing a bold colour. Just keep your makeup base simple and let the pink eyeliner be the statement.

By Terry's Crayon Blackstar eyeliners are a cult favourite but have you tried their Aqua Fizz shade? These pencils are ultra-soft, creamy and also waterproof, so you can wear them all night, smudge-free. Aqua Fizz is a jewel-toned electric blue that beautifully compliments fellow blue eyes. Our pro tip? To create a perfect frosty blue pop, wiggle the metallic blue along your lower lash line and across the centre of your eyelid. Smudge generously, before topping your lashes with a fine black mascara- it’s as easy as that. The brand has even cleverly formulated their eyeliners with anti-ageing ceramide 3, an ingredient that works to keep your delicate eye area hydrated each time you choose to swipe blue.

Speaking of playful, Glossier as a brand is just that. We can count on them for bright shades that you can use to colour outside the lines. Their eye pencils are long-wearing, transfer-resistant and super buildable. Here at PIBE we love the demi-matte shade Ochre, which is a happy dandelion yellow that really does make blue and green eyes pop. Our favourite way to make yellow wearable for both day and night is to use it to highlight the inner corner of your eye. Simply use the soft tip of the pencil to line around your inner tear duct area before using the pad of your ring finger to push the colour into your skin for a hazy yellow effect. Don’t forget to prime your eyelids first so that the yellow has a smooth base to shine off.

If you want to create a bold eye look, you head to the MAC counter. The brand that is synonymous with creative makeup boasts eyeliners in every shade of the rainbow. Our favourite, their Rich Purple Chromagraphic Pencil, which is a dense matte shade and perfect for accentuating brown or hazel eyes. This soft-point liner is buttery, does not scratch your skin and leaves a pigment-rich line behind, perfect for outlining or defining your eye shape. Use this shade specifically as an under eye accent by roughly lining your waterline with the purple pencil and blending with a round tip brush to create a messy lived-in look. Make sure to keep your eyelids clean and bare so the purple can be the focus.
