Los Angeles loves having its picture taken.
You can always walk around LA and capture the vintage LA feel.
A lot of the places there are genuine holdovers from another time.
All of them tap into that particular old-school allure that keeps us looking back.
Sometimes, I love being on the road, driving around without knowing where I am really going and LA is one of these places where you want to have the windows open and drive at a very low speed in order not to miss anything!
For this reason, PIBE decided to go to LA and get to know its new kids, 6 models who intrigued us the most and stand out in the crowd.

My dream photo shoot would probably be shooting somewhere different, like Thailand.

Let’s talk about LA. Did you grow up here? If not, why did you move to LA?
I was born in Toronto, and lived in the Bahamas, New York, and Europe growing up. Me and my dad decided to move here when I was 16.
Which is your favourite neighbourhood in LA?
Highland park is one of my favorite neighbourhood in LA.
What is it that you like most about the LA life style and the people?
I like how free everyone is. Everyone here does what they want and what ever it is that allows them to express themselves.
Where can you be found on a Saturday in LA?
Probably at my house hanging out with friends.
Do you have any tips for those visiting Los Angeles?
I would say, stay away from the classic tourist things like, Hollywood Blvd. There’s so many other cool neighbourhoods and restaurants you can visit.
Which other city/country would you love to visit and why?
I would love to go to Japan because I’ve never been there and it looks amazing.

My favorite films are, Taxi Driver, Magical mystery Tour, Trainspotting, any music documentary.
What's your favourite music?
The Beatles, Muddy waters, Rolling Stones, The Clash, Led Zepplin and way more.

Probably getting to travel.

I would be Spider-Man honestly because of his costume.

How were you discovered?
Through music I guess, my first “official” job was for Nike. I was cast as a LA local musician, the campaign was international which I didn’t know when I booked it and things progressed from there.
If you weren't modelling, what career would you pursue?
I’m a musician first and foremost, everything I do I do for music.
Have you got any role models in the industry? Or role models in general?
In the modeling industry it helps to see people that look similar to you, representation matters. I’m weary about having role models because everyone’s human and it isn’t fair to put people on pedestals like that. No one’s an angel. But I do respect people like Slick Woods and Dilone for hustling for their success and becoming confident queer voices in the landscape.
What would be your dream photo shoot?
My dream photoshoot would be one I get because of who I am not what I look like if that makes sense. I want to reach a place in my career as an artist where I can dictate the extravagance of a shoot on my terms.

Let’s talk about LA. Did you grow up here? If not, why did you move to LA?
I grew up here, raised in Korea town then moved to the Valley for my teen years.
Which is your favourite neighbourhood in LA?
I really enjoy the Silver Lake/Mount Washington area. I like that it feels like a neighborhood and is a bit more community driven than other parts of LA.
What is it that you like most about the LA life style and the people?
It’s very chill here. No one is really in a rush but everyone is hustling. It can be frustrating when you’re trying to get things done but when you’re trying to tap into your inner voice and have a moment of stillness, this is a city that you can do that in. It’s also pretty hard to make friends here, but the ones you do make are ride or die. I think it’s the nature of the city that causes that.
Where can you be found on a Saturday in LA?
Probably in the studio working, haha.
Do you have any tips for those visiting Los Angeles?
You gotta give yourself two weeks, you’ll just be stressed trying to see everything in a few days. Also if you eat meat, you can trust most taco trucks south of Melrose. If you want to go to the beach make it out to Topanga or Malibu for a peaceful time. Everything else gets pretty crowded on peak days.
Which other city/country would you love to visit and why?
Tokyo or Berlin! Both seem like such expressive places and cultures that respect art and music enough to patronize new work. I’m looking for spaces that appreciate difference.

Let's talk about favourites. What's your favourite films?
Fav film is Mulholland Drive, which is probably the most LA film I could’ve cited.
But it really portrayed the city in the dystopian way I see it and not in the cheery, “Welcome To Hollywood” way.
What's your favourite music?
Love the classics. Bill Withers , Nina Simone, The Temptations, Curtis Mayfield, Björk, Sade. List goes on. It could be a whole separate interview tbh.
Favourite Books?
I really enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone and right now I’m revisiting a collection of James Baldwin essays. But I’d have to say my favorite book is The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami.

Lotion, lip balm, and eye drops lol. LA is always tryna dry me out I suh-wear.
What do you do in your free time?
Hustle... nah I love a good nap.
What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?
Still waiting for it.
If you could be a super hero for one day, who would you be and why?
I’d just want to be a witch. I’d imagine that feels amazing, channeling all that power through your body.

I actually had been turned down by an agency a few weeks before signing to LA Models. It kinda sucked but then a stylist I worked with helped set up a meeting with my current agent. I signed soon after and the team is amazing.
If you weren't modeling, what career would you pursue?
Well, I’m in school pursing a bachelors in psychology. I’ve been looking into Media Psychology which funnily enough ties in with modeling.

I was born and raised in San Diego. I’m 6’1 NY from the 619 if you may. I came out to Los Angeles to go to college.

The quietest one.

I’m always somewhere. I could be on set shooting, laying in a patch of grass or trying to find a new spot to eat at. It really depends.

Don’t eat the street meat.
Which other city/country would you love to visit and why?
There’s a strawberry milkshake colored lake in Senegal called Lake Retba. Going there would be a dream.

My favorite aritists include Noname, Frank Ocean, Smino and Masego. I also listen to a lot of Ethiopian Music.

How were you discovered?
I was founded by this amazing photographer Dana Boulous. She was fascinated by my look and always wanted to shoot me. Dana brought a very talented stylist Janet Gomez and set up a test shoot for me. Janet rented clothes from pastimeparadise.co run by Blake Hardy, a scout and model for Wilhelmina LA. Blake was fascinated by my unique look and wanted to introduce me to Christian Rios, an agent on the mens division for Wilhelmenia Los Angeles. This great opportunity led me to joining the team at Wilhelmina.

If you weren't modelling, what career would you pursue?
I am a musician. I have been playing drums for about 15 years originally jazz, then rock. I am now producing music, writing songs, and singing. I am currently pursuing my dream to inspire others through my art. Music!!

I was always fascinated by Alton Mason. He has such a powerful charisma and I love the way he flows in front of camera. Alton is a male model represented by IMG.
What would be your dream photo shoot?
My dream photo shoot is where I have an unlimited budget and complete creative control :)

I grew up in the hippie music culture known as Laurel Canyon! It’s the mountains in Hollywood Hills. I was born and raised here in La!
Which is your favourite neighbourhood in LA?
I would have to say West Hollywood ! I love how progressive and influential the neighborhood is. People can truly dress and be however they want! It’s quite spectacular!
What is it that you like most about the LA life style and the people?
I love the amount of opportunity in Los Angeles. The fashion and the culture of the youth. I have been inspired by so many LA natives. This place is magical and sometimes LA can be fabricated but when you find the right people, it’s a blast! And the weather is sunny all the time!

Do you have any tips for those visiting Los Angeles?
Talk to everyone ! This place is so diverse and beautiful! Visit the amazing beaches.
Which other city/country would you love to visit and why?
I would love to visit Capri, an island in Italy’s bay of Naples. Visiting this small island and jumping in the gorgeous blue Mediterranean Sea just sounds perfect.
Let's talk about favourites. What's your favourite films?
I have so many! Top two would probably be “The Warriors” and “A Clockwork Orange” . These movies have impacted my sense of fashion/style in a powerful way. The aesthetics of both films put me in a constant “awe” when watching. They have great stories and the lighting in both films is another reason I love these beautifully made masterpieces!
What's your favourite music?
I love listening to Jazz. Some good Ella Fitzgerald while cooking dinner puts a smile on my face! I also listen to punk music like the “Sex Pistols” and some emo rap like “Lil Peep”.
Favourite Books?
Save The Cat! The best screenwriting book I have ever read. Highly recommended.

My love, energy and passion. Who needs materialistic things ;)
What do you do in your free time?
I shoot commercials with my fathers company Jaynefilms.com. I am usually a cinematographer or assistant camera. I also love jamming and playing different instruments with other musicians during events/parties.
What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?
Working with Slam Jam Milano x Mackintosh on Hypebeast was pretty fantastic. These designers are so unique and talented. It was a blessing doing the look book! The team I worked with were so professional and inspiring.
If you could be a super hero for one day, who would you be and why?
Aquaman. Simply because there’s so much ocean to explore...
